Wow, I came to take a quick look around the place and was wondering about the unusually high number of new messages. But I didn't realise 'We are Family' had gotten a DD until someone's (displeased) comment alerted me to the fact. And even then it took some time for the other shoe to drop. :D In any case, thank you! For the DD and all the comments and favs. :blowkiss:

We Are Family by mnoo

It's been a super busy summer for me, hence I haven't had much time to pop in. The wedding season has certainly taken it's toll, and it's been a bit of a wild, if enjoyable, ride. Lately I've found myself back at dA more and more though, and it has been nice to see some other 'old' faces dropping by as well. It almost feels like a bit of a quiet resurrection happening. At least for us old folk. I just have to get used to all this newfangled technology now. :D

Anyways, will try to post some more work here as well, and to pop by as often as I can. I hope you're all well!

I thought it was high time to update my journal, since the last one is talking about waiting for Christmas! Yikes. Can't quite believe we're already nearly a third in to this year...

How are you all? Good I hope. I'm (still) busy, gearing towards getting even busier as my wedding photography business gains ground. I think this year is going to be a wild ride, but if I can just hold on in there, it'll be all worth it in the end... I guess no-one ever said going after your dreams was going to be easy-peasy.

Hmm, what else. Oh, saw Rachael Yamagata live last month, and she was a-ma-zing. Seriously. If you ever get a chance to see her, just do it.

But yeah, I'm always around, somewhere on the interwebs. On facebook and twitter at least.

Thank you for all the lovely comments and things! :blowkiss:

I can't quite believe it's December already! What madness... I didn't even get an advent calendar in time, for the first time in my life! Years certainly seem to fly by faster and faster.

I hope you've all been fine. I've been extremely busy and battling with a viscous circle of illnesses, which has left me a bit exhausted. I can't wait for Christmas now. To have some time off in order to relax and enjoy the spirit of the season. The weather has turned colder, which is nice in a way, it's more fresh. The air is crisp and there is even sunshine to go around instead of the gloomy grey of past weeks.

I made a facebook page for my new side-business. You can be my fan if you want to! :D

I just realised that I need to get all christmas cards, well at least the ones abroad, written and sent by the end of this week. :O Yikes. I need me some of those time-freezing super powers.

What are ya'll up to? Anything exciting?

Wow. It's been awhile! I still can't get to most sites from work, so it's really hard to keep up with dA, which sucks. I do miss this place. suzi9mm was in London for a visit over the weekend and for some reason her being here made me want to come and take a peek of what's happening. Somehow her and dA go hand and in hand in my mind.

We look so matchy-matchy cute here. =P

The main reason for her visit was us going to see Antony and the Johnsons at the Barbican last Friday. What an awesome concert that was. I knew that we were in for something magical since I had already experienced being blown away by Antony and the Johnsons last year in Helsinki. But add to that the combination of a venue like the Barbican and the London Symphony Orchestra, and you get something almost unbearably powerful. The production was very low key in the way of stage activity, most of the time Antony stood in the dark, while his voice filled the auditorium. It was lovely to hear new material from him and I can't wait to get to know some of the songs better. Last time I felt a bit uncomfortable with his live version of The Cripple and the Starfish, but this time, hearing it backed by the LSO, it was so beautiful it was almost too much to bare emotionally. Someone nearly passed out in the front row and I found tears were falling down my face at the end of it without me even realising.

I now wish I'd seem him on both nights of performances at the Barbican. I wish I could always and forever to be in that state of mind where you feel the human race is capable miracles.

Being touched by art is a big deal for me. And dA used to play a huge part in that. I hope it can one day again work as the inspiration it once was to me.

In other news, I've started a part-time photography business (on top of my day job) and I'm currently running a pretty generous wedding photography promotion, in case anyone in London is still looking for a wedding photographer for next year. :)

But hey, how have you all been? What's new and what have I missed?

P.S. Anyone know why there's a funny warning icon next to the journal title?

If you've been wondering why I haven't been around much, there's a very simple explanation. It's called a full-time office job. And not only that but a job at an office where they block dA, Flickr, Facebook, personal blogs... well, pretty much anything of any use to me. :P Time outside of work seems to be so limited, that some things just got to give. Unfortunately dA has been one of those things. I still pop in once in a while and go through my watch and drool over pretty pictures, but I don't really have time to be a part of it all, like I used to be once upon a time.

One of the things that has had to give as well is photography. It's tricky trying to schedule photo shoots for the weekends, there always seems to be some last minute thing which causes them to get rescheduled or cancelled.  Last Sunday I was lucky enough to finally follow through with a photo shoot, which has been ages in the planning. Even though my current flat is a bit poky and made the shoot a bit of a tight fit, it was really really lovely to be at it again. ihatechoosingnames was a gorgeous model and I hope we can work together again in the future. I just have to try to hold on to this feeling now, so that I'll be extra determined to see planned future photo shoots through.

In other news, it's really nice to have some hot weather in London. The sun certainly has a knack of waking you up, making you feel that little bit more alive. :sun:

Oh, and by the way, I still haven't sold the 20D. I've been meaning to put it up on eBay so many times, but always start thinking 'but it's such a nice camera, it would be such a good back up camera...'. Yeah, like I really need a back up camera, when I'm hardly using my main one. =P I think I'm just having trouble selling it to some stranger, I'm too attached to it. If any of you are still interested in it, send me note. Maybe it would be easier to pass it on to some more familiar hands... :)

So what's been happening with all you lovely people? How's the summer going where ever you are?
