Contests / 2006 / 7 Deadly Sins

Gluttony (waste, overindulgence) for the 7 Deadly Sins contest.

I wanted it to look a bit like Alice in Wonderland being caught with her hand in the cookie jar. When you're caught doing something you know you shouldn't be doing it alters your perception of the situation and forces you to make a conscious decision. I was interested in representing the point of decision (which always exists even if you're not aware of it), where you'll have to choose between the good and the bad, or in this case between the deadly sin of gluttony and the virtue of abstinence.

Note: Yes, the halo is very much intentional. I wanted the look to be reminiscent of an iconic portrait of a saint.
